All right, so you’ve gotten yourself into the heady world of vapes, whether it’s for convenience, discrete use, or just some good clean fun. You’ve got your battery, case, charger, and cartridges, the whole shebang. But where do you go from here? Elements Boulder has got you covered if you want to take your vape game to the next level.

We have regular pop ups with PAX/SPHEREX & AIROPRO! Pax will custom engrave your pen so look out for this awesome perk! Make your vape stand out from the crowd. I don’t know about you all, but working in the marijuana industry means every single one of my friends and coworkers has at minimum two different kinds of vaporizers with them at any given time, and of course we all have different concentrates in them, so they get handed around and tried out by everybody, and pretty soon whose vape is whose becomes pretty muddled, especially after a few good rips. If you come on this Saturday, you can get your name or some other identifier engraved into the side of your vape, so you never lose track of your vape again! It’s completely free!

Looking for other ways to keep your vape game on point? You can always upgrade to a premium vaporizer like the Pax 3, which is designed for both dry flower and concentrate, so it can handle anything from nugs and distillate all the way up to live resin or solventless rosins. These guys do come with a hefty price tag, but it’s the way to go if you want the tops. Otherwise, there are all kinds of things you can do to customize or upgrade your vape. You can get all kinds of wraps to coat the outside of your vape; the variety of patterns available at online retailers like Etsy is staggering. Think of it as getting a trippy phone case for your new iPhone but for your vaporizer. Wraps can protect you vape from wear and tear while also making you stand out from the rest of the plebs with their unadorned vapes. If you want to make the baby boomers jealous of your schwag, you could even get a vape belt holster…

Now, when it comes to vapes there are a couple things you should avoid. Some of the cutting agents used by less reputable companies can turn into literal poison when heated to vaporization temperatures. The cutting agents to avoid are propylene glycol (PG), vegetable glycerin (VG), and polyethylene glycol (PEG). While the FDA has approved these substances as safe for human consumption, there isn’t much research into what happens to these additives when they are raised to near-combustion temperatures and then inhaled. Several studies suggest that PG can lead to a disorder dubbed “Popcorn Lung,” which causes all kinds of unsavory effects in human lungs. Both VG and PG can produce acetaldehyde and formaldehyde byproducts when heated sufficiently, and neither are substances you want in your body. So make sure you do your research before trying out a new brand to be sure they don’t use harmful cutting agents. None of the vapes we carry at Elements Boulder have any of these substances, namely because we purchase our vapes here, too, and have no desire to inhale embalming chemicals.

That said, you want to look for 100% cannabis oil, no additives, for the purest and safest vaping experience. This way you can be sure to avoid any unsavory cutting agents. On the flipside of the coin, vaping may actually have more benefits than traditional smoking methods. According to WeedMaps, “Another study, published in 2009 in the journal Inhalation Toxicology, suggests that the lower temperature for vaporization, which ranges between 180 to 190 degrees Celsius (356 to 374 degrees Fahrenheit), greatly enhances the ratio of cannabis byproducts compared with the much higher smoking temperature. By vaping raw flower or a full-spectrum concentrate, you can ensure that you’re receiving more than just THC, but also the other cannabinoids and terpenes from the cannabis strain.” In other words, you lose lots of the cannabinoid goodness when you light the plant on fire versus heating it enough to simply vaporize. Users also report less coughing and throat irritation when using vapes as opposed to traditional combustion methods. So not only is vaping high tech, spiffy, discreet, and arguably healthier than other inhaled cannabis products, but it is more efficient at delivering the cannabinoid compounds responsible for marijuana’s magic.
